Definition, classification and application of non-woven fabric

Non-woven fabric is a kind of fabric without spinning and weaving, is the textile short fiber or filament for orientation or random brace, forming a fiber network structure, and then through the mechanical, thermal bonding or chemical reinforcement. In simple terms, fibers are directly bonded together by physical means.

Non-woven fabric is a new generation of environmental protection materials, with water-repellent, breathable, flexible, non-combustion-supporting, non-toxic and non-irritating characteristics. 

The material placed in the outdoor natural decomposition, its longest life is only 90 days, placed in the indoor decomposition in 5 years. When burning, it is non-toxic, tasteless, and no residual material so as not to pollute the environment. Non-woven fabric break through the traditional textile principle, and has the characteristics of short process, fast production speed, high yield, low cost, wide use, multiple raw material sources and so on.

Classification of non-woven fabric: non-woven fabric production fibers are mainly polypropylene, polyester. In addition, there are nylon, viscose fiber, acrylic fiber, ethylene fiber, chlorylon.

Non-woven fabric’s application:

1. Geosynthetic materials: Geotextile has the functions of reinforcement, isolation, filtration, drainage and seepage prevention in geoconstruction.

2. Agricultural non-woven fabric has the characteristics of long service life, good effect and low investment. Agricultural non-woven fabric is mainly used in agriculture for shielding, heat insulation, heat preservation, wind barrier, fruit protection, disease and insect prevention, seedling, seeding, covering and so on.

3. Non-woven filter material as a new type of filter material, non-woven filter material has the advantages of unique three-dimensional mesh structure, uniform pore distribution, good filtration performance, low cost. Mainly use as air conditioning filter cloth, fish tank water filter cloth, etc.

4. Household decoration, daily necessities and packaging materials mainly refer to the lining cloth of sofa and bed, curtains, tablecloths, household appliances covering cloth, suit sets, car interior decoration, car protective cover, wipe cloth, equipment materials and commodity packaging cloth, etc.

5. The non-woven interlining used for clothing has the characteristics of light weight, soft, low cost, wide range of thickness change, strong adaptability, nondirectional fiber arrangement, scalability and so on. It is easy to match with a variety of fabrics. Including lining, bonding lining, floc, shaping cotton, a variety of synthetic leather sole cloth.

6. Medical and sanitary non-woven cloth: operating clothes, protective clothing, disinfectant bag cloth, mask, diaper, civil rag, wiping cloth, wet face towel, magic towel, soft towel roll, beauty supplies, sanitary napkin, sanitary pad, and disposable sanitary cloth, etc.
